The investigation of out-of-school activities of le-arning environments on recycling and environmen-tal effects in primary school students in terms of different variables

In this study, the acquirements and effects of out-of-school learning environments on the recycling and environment in the process of 'Human and Life' within the scope of Human and Environment unit of science course of fourth grade students in primary school were investigated. In the research, in order to provide data diversity and in-depth information, mixed method,, in which the qualitative and quantitative data obtained from the study group were evaluated together, and the qualitative data supported the quantitative data, was used. The study is a quasi- experimental study and was designed with static group pre-test and post- test comparative design. The study group consists of 58 primary school fourth grade students studying in a public school in Erzincan in 2018-2019 academic year. In the control group, class-room teaching was conducted in accordance with the current curriculum. In practice, the Environmental Attitude Scale developed for the primary school students and applied by another researcher was used as a quantitative data collection tool. A semi-structured interview form with open-ended questions was used to support quantitative data. İn the study, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis Test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, which are applied in nonparametric statistics, were used for data analysis. We have reached the conclusion that the data obtained through this research contributes to the de-velopment of environmental awareness and attitude to be made about the ef-fects of out-of-school learning environments on primary school students and their environmental impact.
