Abstract (EN)

Tension-type headache e is the third most common disease in all societies, which is very common (30-78%) in the society, mainly in the compressing style, leading to excessive use of analgesics and loss of work force, and it is crucial to treat it. Although it is thought that genetics, peripheral and central pain sensitization play a role in its etiopathogenesis, it is nothing definitive yet. Since Wnt proteins activate several different β-catenin-dependent and independent signaling pathways, this study was planned to reveal the contribution of methylation and expression of certain genes in the non-canonical Wnt/Par/aPKC planar cell polarity (PCP) pathway to the pathology of Tension-type headache. This study included 130 patients with tension-type headache and 118 healty volunteers who applied to Gaziantep University Medical Faculty Hospital Neurology Clinic. The expression and methylation of WNT5A and FZD3 genes were analyzed in the peripheral blood taken from the samples in the laboratory of the Department of Medical Biology. When compared to healthy control individuals, it is observed that the timing of gene expression changes in TTH patients. This study is valuable as it has the potential to target gene expression and methylation as a potential biomarker for therapeutic applications and diagnosis.
