Knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of healthcare professionals practising GETAT methods regarding traditional Anatolian medicine

This study aims to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of healthcare professionals who have received the Ministry of Health -approved Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) certification training regarding Traditional Anatolian Medicine (TAM). The survey examined the participants' demographic characteristics, education levels, professional experience, and their knowledge, attitudes, and practice behaviors regarding TAM. The literature review outlines the importance of the concept of TAM, its historical development, basic principles, and application methods. Ministry of Health-approved GETAT certification programs are discussed, and the importance of raising awareness among healthcare professionals is highlighted. The research is important for understanding healthcare professionals' approaches to TAM practices and contributing to the conceptualization of Anatolian Medicine and its inclusion in academic literature. The findings offer recommendations for improving educational programs and increasing awareness of traditional medicine. The findings indicate that knowledge levels are significantly correlated with demographic and educational factors, while attitudes and behaviors are more homogeneously distributed. Participants exhibited positive attitudes toward TAM, but the practical application of these attitudes was limited. The results will contribute to the development of training in TAM and the strengthening of health policies.
