Abstract (EN)
In tops of the most curious and debated issues throughout history has been the curiosity of one's own existence. The effort to understand the existence of the human is in the mind of the human again. Problem we face the most in this context is the mind-body problem. Does the mind and body consist of two different substances as dualism claims, or can it be reduced to one substance as materialism claims? These questions are important questions that have not been answered and have been discussed from past to present. There are important philosophers who want to find solutions to this problem. Two of these important philosophers are Gilbert Ryle and John R. Searle. The main purpose of this study; in contemporary philosophy of mind, as handle views in mind philosophy the British philosopher Gilbert Ryle and American philosopher John Searle's is to compare the views of two philosophers. In doing so, we will consider Ryle and Searle's views on consciousness, their definitions for consciousness, their perspectives on the mind-body problem, and their solutions to this problem. Morever, addressing their views on language, their perspectives against dualism and materialism approaches and their criticism of these approaches, in the light of all these considerations, we will focus on the similarities and differences between the two philosophers.
