The application of volunteer management approaches in international organizations: EXPO 2016 Antalya as an example

At the first chapter, there is explained social responsibility by using both of personal and corporate to provide better understanding the importance of volunteerism and volunteer management for the organizations. Thus, there is aimed to make clarify personal responsibility which is encouraging the volunteerism, and social responsibility which is basic of volunteer management. In the second chapter, there is discussed volunteerism and volunteer management. Volunteerism is a conception which covers responsibility related with social welfare both of as a citizen and corporate. It is more important to know why people are not volunteers than to know their volunteering motivation. Therefore, this causes could be determined the balance in the preparation of the volunteer management model. In the case of volunteer management, there are differences between the management of salaried workers and volunteers so both academicians and field workers are agreed that they cannot use traditional human resource management models for the volunteers. The most notably known approaches in voluntary management where different approaches are concerned are Program Management (American or Workplace Model) and Membership Management (Europe). In the third chapter, EXPO Organizations are discussed. In general terms, EXPO organizational structure was explained by referring to the purpose and types of EXPO's made in the world and detailed information about EXPO 2016 Antalya was given related with EXPO participation of our country. In this way, it is aimed to make clarify of the structure of the EXPO 2016 Antalya as an international organization. Also it is purposed to provide better understanding about integration of volunteers and volunteer management in the organization. In the last part, qualitative data were compiled and steps were taken about the voluntary management system implemented in EXPO 2016 Antalya organization. The 20-questions "volunteer management and social entrepreneurship" questionnaire prepared by Erdoğan (2014) was adapted to the EXPO organization.
