Abstract (EN)

The most important difficulties in using the Braille alphabet, which was developed for the purpose of reading by the visually impaired, are the need for writing on a special paper, the need for the individual to stay still, and the difficulty of reading. When the studies in the literature are examined, it is seen that many mechanical systems connected to the limbs of individuals have been developed. In this study, a system for reading text from digital media using Braille alphabet has been developed. With the developed system, reading is done through vibration from the chest area of the individual. In the system where reading is performed without being bound to a fixed location, the texts are transferred via Bluetooth communication. As a result of experimental studies, it has been revealed that a visually impaired individual who knows the Braille alphabet can use the system in a very short time. Another outstanding feature of the system is that the person does not use any limb for reading. In addition, the developed system can be used under clothing in a way that does not adversely affect the external appearance of the individual. With its usefulness and success in perception, the reading system will make it easier for individuals with disabilities to access texts in digital media.
