Exlibris art in terms of visual communication design: Model applications and graphic design analysis

With this study, the art of the exlibris was emphasized and studied for visual communication design. For this purpose, exlibris works was examined and some practice was made. And graphic design solutions were presented. In the first part of thesis which consists of four parts, under the heading of "Exlibris as Deed of Book" the definition of exlibris, its progress in historical period, widespreading of exlibris art in our country, exlibris design, the themes in exlibris, exlibris collecting, exlibris events in Turkey and in the world are exemplified with the works of national and international exlibris artists. In the second part, exlibris printing techniques, exlibris duplication techniques and exlibris printing signs are given, historical relation between books and exlibris are represented. In the thirt part, the problem, importance and aim of thesis are emphasized. In the fourth part, under the heading of "Examples of application and analyzes", starting from exlibris art, the works of thesis owner are taken as an example as well as the exlibris works that were done with different techniques and style are analysed. These works that are taken in terms of critisism and semeiology are examined with theme and content, composition, colour, style, configuration, form, light and shade and perspective elements and tried to be given a meaning with its internal dynamics.
