Communiation is a vital activity in the historical development process of humanity. While establishing the communication network of human beings, conveying their feelings and thoughts, they created various symbols, these symbols, which we encounter in motifs, patterns, pictures and ornaments, have been transformed into languages over the time. This action, which can be considered as the beginning of the art of painting, is to emphasize the depth of the link between artistic expressions and communication. The use of writing in communication has been a revolutionary development in terms of social, cultural, artistic, economic and historical aspects. Writing as the memory of human history; It has developed in different ways depending on variables such as language, belief, national identity, culture, socio-cultural structure, economy, geographical location and so on. Documents that shed light on history have survived through writing. The process of editing the text with the developing technical inventions has enabled the birth of typography. The importance of writing in graphic design discipline; it stems from both its narrative power and its ability to be interpreted with aesthetic-plastic values. In this context, the development of photography and the widespread use of it in graphic design also brought up the agenda with its typography. In this study, photography and typography will be examined in historical development processes. Historical and current examples of the use of typography and photography together, major trends and techniques in this field will be evaluated. The combination of the unique visual elements of both photography and typography will reveal the effects of graphic design and graphic arts. Thus, the importance of typography and photography togetherness in graphic design and their open aspects will be revealed. The main area of this work is the importance of the combination of photography and typography in the context of graphic design, its role in design, and its interaction with the audience.Also in this study; The effect, transmission and narrative power, which was put forward by using photographs and typography together, was emphasized.
