Abstract (EN)
In present communication environment, it can be mentioned that various communication tools similar to social media exist before movie posters in the promotion process of the movies. This situation may generate the impression that movie posters are relegated to the background. However, it should be noted that this perception is not correct and these movie posters need to be prepared within a certain logic framework from past to present. Recent studies have demonstrated that the presentation of children in Turkish film posters has not been adequately addressed. Hence in this thesis thesis, how the presentation of children is handled in Turkish Film Posters through Semiotic Analysis (2010-2022) has been examined taking into account the historical and generic evolution of cinema. Depending on the content of the theme matter addressed in the films, presentation of the children is used in the designed posters. Correlationships between the presentation of children and graphical design content used in the posters, semiotics, and whether this presentation reflects the content of the film in terms of its genre have been assessed. The presentation of children in the film, depending on their positioning in the poster, whether the child element in the film stands out on the poster and whether the presentation on the poster is compatible with the film content from a semiotic perspective have been criteria considered. In the selection of films, an attention has been paid to the presentation of children being prominently featured in the poster size as the IMDb rating value is five or above. As a result of this study, it can be observed that the presentation of children, subjected within the film during the examined period also occupies the same level of importance on the poster.
