Abstract (EN)

Our age is a communication and information age. In crowded city centersworking people are surrounded with thousands of visual messages and graphicdesign products like emblems and logotypes, advertisements, posters, book,magazine and CD covers, newspapers and billboards... All these graphic designproducts compete each other very much. The aim of graphic design is to convey amessage or present a product or a service by designing 2d readable and watchablevisuals. The succes of a graphic design product is related to its ability of conveying amessage. Creating visual unitiy is necessary for a successful communication. Visualunity in graphic design can be provided with a feel of completeness which formedwith a harmonic organization of elements. An audience always seeks wholeness in amessage; otherwise he / she loose his / her interest in design.For a healthy communication graphic designer should have expertise indifferent fields. Basic design elements and principles, the main elements of graphicdesign which are format, visuals and typography, and visual perception are majorfields of expertise. Letters, numerals and punctuation marks are typographicelements which contain and convey verbal information. Visuals are photographs andillustrations. Photograph is the general name of a visual which created by a lightfocused on a light sensitive paper. Illustrations can be made by drawing, painting orwith the help of a computer software. They emphasize theme, not form. Human eyepercieve its surrounding as a whole. In this perception model the contributions offragments to the whole is much more important than the characteristics of fragmentsitselves. This study put emphasis on the relation of typography and visuals in graphicdesign, try to find ways for making it high quality, and emphasize its place in arteducation.
