Abstract (EN)

This thesis presents a practical approach to design the robust and simpler power system stabiliser (PSS) for improving the dynamic response of a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) system under variable conditions. First of all, the linearized model of synchronous generator is derived for power system stability studies. Then phase lead-lag PSS and proposed robust PSS are designed for use with this model. The main objective of the thesis is to design a robust PSS that provides stable and high performance for the system under different conditions. For this aim, the proposed approach is based on fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and established on the principle of sliding mode control (SMC). The responses of system with the conventional PSS (CPSS) are compared with the proposed controller. Simulation results show that the proposed PSS has a good dynamic performance with overshoot and shorter settling time.
