Strengthened wood construction materials design and determination of some technical properties

Abstract (EN)
In this study, reinforced composite timber structural element is designed with participation of some materials other than wood by using strong properties of these materials. The purpose of this study is to determine some technical properties of this structural element. For this purpose, solid pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) is used in the layers of solid wood as it is widely used in wood structures; aluminum and fiber materials in the porous structure are used between layers of solid wood. All these materials are pressed by using glue type Polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) and Desmodur-VTKA and has become laminated composite material. This composite consists of 13 layers of which 7 are solid wood and 6 are porous materials. In this experiment; the density, adhesion, flexural strength, flexural modulus of elasticity, compression set resistance of a total of 164 samples were determined. Obtained results are compared with the properties of solid wood and laminated wood. At the end; it is observed that every factor except the porous materials used in the composite sample are statistically not significant in the compression set resistance experiment; and every factor (glue, porous materials) used in composite sample are statistically significant in the density, adhesion, flexural strength, flexural modulus of elasticity experiments. In conclusion, in all the experiments; type Desmodur-VTKA glue raised the strength, porous materials attenuated the bonding, porous materials attenuated strength in the parallel force to the line of glue, specially fiber material enhance flexural performance of composite material by decreasing the flexural modulus of elasticity. As the most important result; porous materials highly enhance strength in the effects of perpendicular to the line of glue, and this strength is better in aluminum material than fiber material.Key Words : Wood materials, composite, technical properties.
