Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, linear and non-linear time history analyzes of the historical masonry Ulu Mosque and its minaret in Uşak were carried out. As a result of the analysis, the dynamic behavior of the selected historical masonry structures under earthquake load has been examined. The thesis work is divided into ten chapters. In the first part, the purpose of the historical masonry buildings, how they were built, what materials were used, the importance of historical buildings in society, the studies in the literature that were made to keep the historical buildings alive are mentioned. In the second part, the 600-year history of Uşak Ulu Mosque is mentioned. In the third chapter, general information about the carrier architectural features of Uşak Ulu Mosque is given. In the fourth chapter, the materials used in the historical masonry buildings are mentioned. In the fifth chapter, the methods used to determine the structural properties of historical buildings, the methods used to determine the properties of materials used in masonry structures, material modeling techniques, modeling and material idealizations, and mechanical properties of materials used in historical buildings are mentioned. Experimental and numerical modal analysis methods and dynamic formulations used to determine the dynamic behavior of masonry structures under the influence of earthquakes are given. Finally, information about the commonly used methods in the nonlinear analysis of masonry structures is presented. In the sixth chapter, Information is given about the Finite Elements Method (FEM). In the seventh chapter, information is given about the geometric properties of the mosque and minaret, the things to be done before starting the finite element analysis, the properties of the materials used and the 1999 Kocaeli earthquake acceleration records to be used in the analysis. Solid models of the mosque and minaret were created separately. The support shapes of the structures were investigated with on-site explorations. Thus, the results were considered to be more realistic. Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) model was used for non-linear time history analysis of the structures. In the eighth chapter, numerical analyzes of Uşak Ulu Mosque and Uşak Ulu Mosque minaret are given. The results obtained from non-linear analyzes are included. In the ninth chapter, the comparison of the minaret strengthened with Steel Fabric Reinforced Concrete Mixture (ÇKTBK) with the non-reinforced minaret is made. In its section, conclusions and recommendations are given. References and curriculum vitae are also included in this section. In the study, it was seen that the results of the analysis were compatible with the crack regions marked in the survey studies.
