Abstract (EN)
Eastern Pontides Orogenic Belt whose geological evolution still under debate, which is one of the main tectonic units of Turkey and located on the Eastern Black Sea Region approximately, is one of the most complex geodynamic formation. Although many research have been made from past to present for this orogenic unit which is a part of the formation of alpine, the subduction polarity of the region still could not be found out because of insufficient geological, geophysical and geochemical datas. If it is thought that the effect of the reverse fault which is claimed that occurred millions of years ago and being responsible for the formation of Eastern Black Sea Mountains have still continued, the debated subduction polarity could be solved by knowing the current tectonic movement of the region. For this purpose, in this research, 4 points were determined in the area between Trabzon and Gumushane cities and 3 period GNSS measurements were made and then the deformations direction and values were determined. While the biggest deformation values were determined between 1. and 3. period measurements, on the north axis, on the BOZT and TORU points as 4.9 mm and 6.2 mm towards the north, on the east axis, the biggest values were determined on the ZIGA and MACK points as 8.2 mm and 17.4 mm towards the east. On the other hand, the annual velocities of all the TUSAGA-Aktif and TUTGA points which surround the region were considered with the determined deformations and the all points movement direction was examined as being the same or not. İt was seen that all the geodetic findings are the same as showing the region moving towards the north while rising at the same time. When these finals are considered acording to geological theories about subduction polarity and some geophysical findings in the region, it was seen that all the findings have supported the southward subduction model.
