Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the technical and economic feasibility of establishing a solar photovoltaic power plant (SPP) in the Tarsus region, located in southern Turkey. In light of the increasing global energy demand and the environmental drawbacks of fossil fuels, the research aims to assess the potential of solar energy as a sustainable and viable alternative. The feasibility analysis was conducted using region-specific solar radiation and climatic data. The system design was developed by optimizing key technical parameters such as photovoltaic panel selection, inverter configuration, cable infrastructure, array layout, and orientation angles. Solar energy production was simulated using specialized software, and annual energy yield projections were obtained. In parallel, a comprehensive financial analysis was performed, incorporating capital expenditures, operation and maintenance costs, and expected revenues. The investment performance was evaluated using standard economic indicators, including Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period. The findings indicate that the Tarsus region possesses a high potential for solar energy investments. The proposed system is projected to offer both environmental benefits and economic profitability. This research provides a practical framework and reference for future solar energy projects in regions with similar geographical and meteorological characteristics.
