Abstract (EN)
From the earliest periods of human history to the present, the fundamental materials used in the production of accessories have been organic. When examining the course of historical developments, the newly discovered materials and subsequent new processing methods in the progression from hunting-gathering periods reflect on the produced items. When analyzing the purpose of accessory use and the forms that changed over time, elements signifying the spiritual values of each society and culture emerge. In the early times, accessories were used to offer protection, display power in terms of the animals they hunted, and serve the spiritual needs of people such as protection from spells and luck. As societies developed, the exchange of cultures with the communities they interacted with during migrations to discover new places led to a transformation in the services provided by accessories. When considering contemporary art understanding and designs, the material searches that began with human history are recurring, and natural objects are now being used again. They are utilized in different forms, shapes, and with extraordinary ideas. This thesis first examines the historical development of accessories. The movements shaping contemporary art understanding are also included. Furthermore, information is provided about Anselm Kiefer, who uses natural objects in his artworks, and his art pieces. The fourth chapter of the thesis covers individuals who use natural objects in accessory making and their designs. When the thesis study is generally examined, information is given about the use of natural objects in the main branches of art and in accessory production. Additionally, modern art movements and contemporary art movements are addressed.
