Term "Cover" in today's popular music

Today, in the industrialization of music, the concept of "cover", which emerged as a result of the decrease and increase in the efficiency of songs and instruments compared to the masses, continues to be interpreted and continues to develop in its own field of musical styles, dedicated to new styles and perspectives. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the sample works produced and consumed in different styles as a variety of the term "cover music" in popular culture between 2000 and 2021 in today's popular music. For this purpose, a total of 418 works in determined musical genres were examined. During this analysis, the findings were obtained by document analysis using the historical comparative research model, one of the qualitative research methods. It is intended that this thesis, in which the developments between 2000 and 2021, are of particular significance, will examine the effects of popular culture and cover music from a variety of angles and add to the body of knowledge by filling a knowledge gap in this area. In consequence of the study, it is understood that because of inadequacy and the problem of finding a new composition, artists publish the songs that already been popular in earlier peri-ods with their own style. Based upon the relationship between culture and people in the years between 2000 and 2021, mass culture and popular culture's effect on the art of music, and popular music's influence on cover music are obtained.
