Researching timber buildings, producted by today's technology in projecting - application - usage sides: Istanbul models

Timber construction systems are used by a lot of country in the world. Although timber had been commonly used in Anatolian buildings in the old periods, until today timber construction systems lost their popularity in Turkey. They left their place to the reinforced concrete systems. But after 1999 Marmara Earthquake, there have been a turning back to the timber construction systems because of that they can resist to the earthquake better than the other construction systems. Now, in Turkey many firm work on the production and the application of the timber constructions. In this study, the evaluation of timber buildings, that are producted by today's technology in Istanbul, is made in projection, application and usage sides. The aim of the study is, to find solutions to the problems which are formed in timber building application and usage, to ensure that timber buildings are used in true and rationalist way and also to make prevalent the usage of timber buildings. In the study at first, the timber material's structure and properties are researched. Timber structure is researched in physical, chemical and biological sides and the timber's properties are researched in phsical and mechanical sides. And the positive and negative sides of timber material are researched thoroughly. After these part, timber usage in building and the timber construction systems are researched. The timber building's properties are researched in projection, application and usage sides. At last of the study, the evaluation and the determination of timber building production in today is made. In the conclusion part, the suggestions and the solutions that have to be made due to the evaluation and the determination part, are given.
