Hace Can Ali Bursevi's Futuvvetname named Bahru'l-Ensab (TDK A/332 1-56)

Futuvvet, derived from the word "feta", which means young, brave and generous in the dictionary, includes words such as youth, heroism and generosity, and in the terminologically sense, it expresses religious-sufic concepts such as altruism, sincerity and isar. Established in the 13th century by the Abbasid Caliph Nasır-Lidinillah in order to prevent the social and economic deterioration in the Islamic geography, the futuvvet organization, which was formed as a result of the gathering together of the young, unruly groups known as ayyar, rinds and ahdas, and various artisan groups, aims to be an institution in which these sufic concepts come to life. Caliph Nasser invited the rulers of other Muslim countries to this organization, and during the period of Izzeddin Keykavus I, the effects of the futuvvet organization began to be seen in the Anatolian Seljuk State. Futuvvetnames, which are about futuvvet and its organization, were initially written in Arabic and Persian and later Turkish futuvvetnames also began to be written. The subject of our study, "Hace Can Ali Bursevi's Futuvvetname Named Bahru'l-Ensab", is one of the futuvvetnames written in Turkish. In this thesis, Bursevi's work, about which we have very limited information, registered in the Library of Turkish Language Society under the name "Bahru'l-Ensab", will be presented as a transcription text; it will be examined in terms of issues such as language and style, content, sources, personal-place names and customs-traditions.
