Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Master Thesis THE EFFECTS OF CURING CONDITIONS ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE Cemal SONMEZOGLU Firat University Institute of Science and Technology Department of Construction Education 2005, Page: 40 It has been researched the effects of curing conditions on mechanical properties of lightweight concrete. Volcanic pumice from Elazığ neighbourhood has been used as coarse aggregate, river sand from Elazığ-Palu neighbourhood has been used as fine aggregate. Two different minerals admixtures which are silica fume (SF) and fly ash (FA) has been used in this work. They have been replaced with cement as their weight which are used as mineral additions of SF %10, FA %20, experimental samples which are prepared with those In this thesis materials have been applied with compressive strength, splite tensile strength and ultrasonic test experiments such as 3, 7 and 28 days long conditions of water, air and sealed pressure resistance and seperation resistance. As the result obtained at this work, the strength properties of all concrete series are increased by depending on their conditional time line. The highest strength properties are being obtained the samples which are effected by water conditions. Followings are the samples which are affected by sealed conditions and the less strength characteristics are being obtained which are effected air cure. While concrete specimens effectted by different curing conditions which are added with SF are shown that the highest strength properties, the concrete specimens with FA admixture did not increase. Key words: Lightweight Concrete, Mechanical Properties, Aggregate, Fly ash, Silica fume vn
