Khalid b. Abdullah al-Azhari (d. 905/1499) who grew up in Egypt during which the Mamelukes were ruling had become one of the leaders of the time although his scientific works started in his later ages. His teaching activities conducted in the Al-Azhar University as well as the pure, easily apprehensible works on the field of syntax are clear evidences of his scientific competence. Mûsılü't-Tullâb ilâ Kavâ'idi'l-İ'râb, among the important explanations of el-İ'râb an Kavâ'idi'l-i'râb' of Ibn Hişam en-Nahvi (d. 761/1360) is a significant work of al-Azhari on syntax.
