Active role in public education the community center

The purpose of this study was to reveal the contributions of Community Centers to public education. The opinions of the social studies teachers were evaluated on the base of various parameters on the effectiveness of the Community Centers. Firstly, the definition, types and the importance of education were described. The functions of public education especially educational functions were transferred. Republican era of public education activities, in these activities community centers having greater importance and this institution's contributions to public education were described. Three hundred social studies teachers who are working in Malatya Metropolitan Municipality consists of the sample size of the research. Questionnaire and attitude scale was used in order to collect data. Three questions related to personal information and 21 statements related to contribution of community centers' to public education were located in the research questionnaires. To determine the views of students' twenty expressions which are five-point Likert-type (quite adequate "1", adequate "2", partially adequate "3", insufficient "4" and quite low "5") were located. For the analysis of data obtained 20.00 SPSS software package was used. Frequency (f) percentage (%) analyzes were used. Also t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests were used whether the data were distributed homogeneously or not. It is also tested that whether there is differentiation between teachers' views according to gender, seniority and the type of school that they graduated.
