Typographic resonance in motion graphics

Typography as the art of designing words, is one of the most important developments for communication in the history of civilizations. The typographic media, differentiated by languages and united by cultures, evolved throughout history, and the typography that has been drawn, carved or printed are now digitized and put in screens. The screen, unlike printed media, allows the use of temporal and interactive features by default. The temporal features, which bring "motion", is widely used to facilitate the conveying of a message. The natural interest of humans towards motion facilitates the use of the motion feature for designing communication. The screen, with its multiple modes of usage, necessitates new research, modern applications and thus, the definition of principles in this field. Typographic resonance, as a value to enhance the communicative impression, needs to be redefined in terms of typographic and temporal features based on the possibilities of this contemporary medium. This study focuses on the impact of typographic resonance that can be created by motion, the parameters of using type on screen and intensifying the expression by existing principles. By decomposing the work done in the field focusing on the context and the form, the properties and principles are to be identified, and the criteria that enhance the impact of typographic resonance in motion graphics are to be determined. Also, based on the outcome of the research, five animation works are created for various screen formats and uses.
