Abstract (EN)
Greenhouse gas emissions from human activities enhance the impact of global warming and cause global warming and climate change. The carbon footprint was determined by the Kyoto Protocol and is a study to calculate the equivalents of greenhouse gas impacts from different activities in carbon dioxide (CO2) units. Thanks to this method, it is possible to know the amount of carbon produced and the damage to the environment. Studies are being held to reduce the carbon footprint around the world. These studies are conducted with the aim of raising people's awareness, gaining sustainable consumption behavior, and prioritizing renewable energy. As the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere increases, studies of carbon footprint calculation have been initiated by researchers in various fields. In this study, the carbon footprint of Osmanbey campus at Harran University for 2021 was calculated according to the calculation equations developed by Üreden and Özden (2018) and the IPCC methodology. Data such as total electric power consumption, energy consumption for heating, daily transportation data for employees and students, vehicle fuel types used by individuals, and tree areas were used to calculate the carbon footprint. The carbon footprint of the Othman campus was calculated 11.840 EtCO2 / year. The highest calculated value of carbon emissions is due to electrical energy consumption at 7.334 EtCO2/year. According to the results of the study, proposals were made for energy saving and renewable energy production measures to reduce CO2 emissions at the university.
