Abstract (EN)

This study examines the elements of folklore in the Village Institutes, which hold a significant place in the history of Turkish education, with a special focus on the Hasanoğlan Village Institute. The Village Institutes were revolutionary institutions aimed at rural areas' social, cultural, and economic development. Established in the 1940s under the leadership of Hasan Âli Yücel and İsmail Hakkı Tonguç, these institutes aimed to spread modern agricultural techniques and contemporary educational approaches in villages. Additionally, they played a crucial role in deeply exploring and preserving folk culture and elements of folklore to maintain local cultural values and pass them down to future generations. In this context, the Hasanoğlan Village Institute adopted an educational model that successfully blended academic and practical education, training individuals with in-depth knowledge of folk science and local culture. The institute's "Village Institutes Journal" publication documented and disseminated folklore studies, serving as a significant platform in this field. This study evaluates the Hasanoğlan Village Institute's contributions to folk science and their impact on folklore studies in Türkiye.
