Abstract (EN)
The biological, photocatalytic, ultrasound and membrane treatment of some brominated, fluoro, aromatic, phenolic and nitroso micropollutants were investigated from a raw hospital wastewater. The maximum removal efficiencies of all studied micropollutants (higher than 18 per cent) and macropollutants (higher than 64 per cent) were obtained at 55 days SRT in anaerobic UASB/aerobic CSTR sequential biological reactor system at a pH of 7.50 under mesophilic conditions. The maximum removals of all studied micropollutants were found with 0.50 gram per liter nanoparticle concentration (both for titanium (IV) oxide and cerium (IV) oxide), for 45 min irradiation time, at 210 W UV light power, at 60 celsius degree in the photocatalytic experiments. The maximum removals were found at pH 4.00 for PFOA, PFOS and NDMA (higher than 93 per cent); at pH 7.00 for α-HBCDD, PBEB, PBT, TBBPA, TCS and CIP (higher than 96 per cent); at pH 8.50 for AHTN, GFZ and IBU (higher than 96 per cent). The maximum removals of all studied micropollutants were found with 0.40 gram per liter nanoparticle concentration (both for titanium (IV) oxide and cerium (IV) oxide), for 60 min sonication time, at a sonicator power of 120 W, at a pH of 4.00 and at 40 celsius degree for a sonicator frequency of 132 kHz in the ultrasound experiments. The maximum removals of all studied micropollutants (higher than 95 per cent) and conventional pollutants (higher than 95 per cent) were achieved with RO membrane at a transmembrane pressure of 4.75 bar, at a permeate flux of 104.17 liter per square meter per hour, at a cross-flow velocity of 0.10 meter per hour, for 60 min, at a pH of 8.00 and at 25 celsius degree. The cost to treat one cubic meter of raw hospital wastewater was calculated for each treatment option and the cheapest one was calculated as 0.67 Euro with RO.
