User ? space relation in hospital general using areas and patient rooms: İzmit Seka State Hospital and İzmit Konak Hospital

Nowadays, hospitals must give response to all of the necessities and requests of hospital users? except for medical treatment studies. A part from this, hospital is a place that patients getting treatment and the hospitals have to provide continuity of the patients? good health conditions.The aim of the study is to highlight to importance the physical properties of space and spacial designs that have made under the scope of relationship between the user and the space in hospitals in terms of patients? health and at the same time this is to examine the effects of applications that affects patients?necessities and behaviours.In the introduction part, the aim, the scope and the method of the study have been explained. In the second chapter, under the title of hospital buildings and development processes, health, healthcare facilities, illness and hospital definitions and hospital classifications have been explained with historical development processes of hospital buildings in Turkey and all over the world.In the third chapter, the user (patients and relatives) definition and classifications, users necessities, the effects of hospitals on recovery and the mutual effect of patient focusing and hospital design have been examined and definition of space, the connection between human and the space, human behaviour in the space and the relationship between user (patients and relatives) and the space at hospitals have been defined.Fourth chapter consist of the analysis, evaluation and the interpretation of data which are obtained from the questionaries done in the hospitals. Finally the fifth chapter includes the evaluation of the results and determining of suggestions.
