Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of core-spun yarn on towel performance characteristics. Five different raw materials (modal, cotton, polyester, bamboo, viscose) which are the most used materials in towel production was preferred. Ne14 yarn count was used in the yarn production. Firstly, yarns are produced with five different materials (modal, cotton, polyester, bamboo, viscose) in conventional ring spinning system. Then, five different core yarn are produced using 75 denier PES as core with these materials in sheath. In addition to these, two different yarns are obtained by using two sheath materials (cotton, viscose) with same core filament (55 denier). Totally, 12 different yarns were produced in this study. This yarn was used as the weft 400 g / m2 (48 tuft leg length), 550 g / m2 weight (66 tuft leg length) towels and cloth fabric samples were produced. Softness, quick drying, color analysis, size change, water absorbency of 36 fabrics using 12 different yarns were measured. Consequently, usage of polyester core yarn in towel production is not effected on water absorbency, softness, color analysis, strength etc. of towel fabrics. Towels produced from polyester core yarn have quick dry properties according to towel obtained from conventional yarn
