Teacher's views on the removal of the begininng of life and evolution unit from the secondary school biology 12 th grade curriculum

This research was carried out in order to examine biology teacher's views on the removal of the Beginning of life and Evolution Unit from the 12- grade biology curriculum in 2018. To realise this aim biology opinions were collected and analysed based variables such as gender, type of faculty graduated, attending an evolution courses at the under graduate level and teaching experience. The model of the research is a descriptive research model. The participants of the study were 90 biology teachers working for different high schools. The qualitative data was analysed by using SPSS analysing program. While the qualitative data was analysed based on themes emerged from the data. Based on the analysis of the data collected, the absence of the theory of evolution in the curriculum was evaluated in terms of current science and biology course content, the place of evolution in the curriculum and the connections between the subjects were mentioned, and the study revealed that in general the participant biology teachers were in favour of reintroducing the subject of evolution in to the curriculum.
