Abstract (EN)
In recent years, it has been seen that violence against animals has increased in the news. These news allow evaluation of the view on animal rights. The aim of this study is to examine the ways in which the view of animal rights abuse appears in the news. The contents of the news regarding document analysis in animal news within the scope of two months in the newspapers determined in the study were examined. The news content in the study was evaluated in the context of the presentation style of animal representation and animal rights. In the analysis, detailed research was conducted using the document analysis technique, and in the context of this research, the importance given by newspapers to animal rights and the newspapers' perspectives on animal representation were determined. With this determination, the way newspapers evaluate the value given to animal rights has been determined. In this study, a total of 197 newspaper articles about animals published in Hürriyet, Sözcü and Sabah newspapers between 04.04.2023 and 04.06.2023 were examined using the document analysis technique. Within the scope of this data, it was seen that Hürriyet newspaper included a total of 70 animal news, Sabah newspaper included 73 animal news, and Sözcü newspaper included 54 animal news. It was revealed that among the newspapers included in the research, the most news was about small and medium-sized animals.
