Nurses' knowledge attitudes and behaviors related to pain assessment

Pain is caused by any part of the body, or without an organic cause that can be connected to a person's past experiences, including sensoryal, emotional, unpleasant. Therefore, nurses' knowledge and attitudes about pain is very important.The research covers Celal Bayar Application and Research Center in Manisa, State Hospital of Manisa and Merkez Efendi State Hospital. This researching is descriptive study which using knowledge and attitude surveys that prepared by Akdağ for utilizing emergency and intensive care nurses, internal clinics and surgery clinics about pain.Nurses that work on operating room and polyclinics have not been taken this research because of the fact that they don?t be with patients and in order not to observe patients. The sample consisted of research is built by volunteer nurses who accepted this research. İnformations were built on knowledge and attitude survey data related to pain. The data were evaluated using SPSS data base. Frequency, mean, and chi-square test was used.%34.4 percent of nurses are questions answered correctly. %81.7 percent of nurses are knowledgeable about the characteristics of pain. %63.5 percent of nurses are application of analgesics knew. There are important differences between. It seemed that there is significant difference statistically about knowledge of impact of mechanism of analgesics and application of pain education on nurse?s beliefs and knowledge.As a result of our resarch it is seemed that nurses don?t follow publications about pain and they have average information about pain assesment,attitudes and nursing management.Nursing education curriculum should be studied on,preparing in-service training about pain and giving information to nurses about these issues are recommended
