Abstract (EN)

Pressure wound are a complication that prolongs the hospitalization period of patients, reduces their quality of life, increases morbidity and mortality rates, increases the workload of healthcare personnel and adds additional burden to the country's economy. A descriptive study to determine the nurses' views on risk factors that may play a role in the development of pressure wound was completed with 217 nurses who agreed to participate in the study in Düzce Health Practice and Research Hospital and Düzce Atatürk State Hospital. The research data were collected by using a data collection form consisting of 43 questions for the sociodemographic data of the nurses, which were developed by the researcher based on the relevant literature and observations. The data were collected by face-to-face interview method after obtaining written consents from the nurses who accepted to participate in the study after the ethics committee and institution permissions were obtained. Percentage calculations, Pearson Chi-Square, Fisher's Exact Test were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results obtained in the study, it was determined that nurses with intensive care experience performed more skin assessment of patients, nurses who received training on pressure wounds followed the patients' nutrition more, and that there were differences in the frequency of positioning patients between the nurses working in the two institutions where the study was conducted. In line with the results obtained in the study, it was recommended to provide pressure wound training to nurses every year, to provide personnel support in order not to disrupt the necessary care, to reduce the number of patients per nurse, and to create guidelines for each clinic regarding the risk of pressure wounds, taking into account the differences between institutions and clinics.
