The study group, which is descriptive type, consisted of 320 nurses working in a university hospital. While it was desired to reach the whole universe before the selection of the sample, it was 291 (91.25%) of the study group because of the existence of nurses who were not in the study or who had been reported and who were not willing to participate in the study. The necessary institution and ethics committee permissions were obtained before the data collection process. The data of the study was collected on 15.08.2018-15.09.2018. The research data were obtained through the personal information form for personal and familial characteristics and the in İSKEBE Attitude Scale developed by Kanbay in 2016 in order to determine the attitudes of nurses towards violence against women. In the evaluation stage of the data, number-percentage calculations, Kruskal Wallis test and Man Whitney U tests were used. 60.1% of the nurses participating in the study were female, 46.3% were undergraduate and 47.4% were in the 26-35 year old group. 51.9% of the nurses experienced violence at any time in their lives, 49.1% experienced violence in the family, and 21.8% of those who were subjected to violence for their families stated that they had been subjected to violence by their fathers. 27.5% of the nurses who had children stated that they used violence against their children. The mean score of the scale was found as 112, 17 ± 27, 84. In line with the results obtained from the study, training programs should be prepared in order to teach and develop the knowledge of the violence types of nurses, and developmental curriculums should be prepared on women's perceptions and the place of women in society.
