Relationship between healthy lifestyle, health literacy and digitalliteracy among the nursing students

Abstract (EN)

This study was done to research the relation between healty lifestyle behaviours, health literacy and digital literacy among the university students. Sampling contains 270 of university students. The Data was collected with ''Questionnaire for Determining Socio-Demographic Characteristics of Students'', ''Healty Lifestyle Behaviour Scale'', ''Health Literacy Scale'' and ''Digital Literacy Scale''. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, simple linear regression, t-test and ANOVA were used for data analysis. 67% of participating students are between the age of 18 - 21; %33 of them are between the age 22-26, %75 of participants are women. %26,3 are in first grade,%21,5 are in the second grade,%22,6 are in the third grade and %29,6 are in the fourth grade. %99,3 of the nursing students have cell phones and %58,9 have PCs. %66,3 of the students use internet more than 2 hours, %44,1 of them have social media usage more than 2 hours. Also %99,1 of the students read scientific articles less than 1 hour. %2,6 of the participating students use newspapers to reach the info for health, %5,9 use radio, %15,9 use books, %18,1 ask health employees, %27,4 search from social media and %30 read scientific articles. The effect of Digital Literacy and Health Literacy variables on Healthy Lifestyles variable is statistically significant. The direct effect tool from the Digital Literacy Scale to the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale is also statistically significant when variable (health literacy scale) is added. From the Digital Literacy Scale to the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale, the Health Literacy Scale is a Partial Mediator. In line with the findings of our research, the creation of programs that reduce the use of social media and increase the habit of reading the books of the students, researching of long term effectiveness of "Digital Literacy", "Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors" and "Health Literacy'' and doing reseach with larger samples are recommended.
