Abstract (EN)
Oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygene species plays an efficient role in pathogenesis of chronical liver diseases. In this study, we investigated activity levels of some of the antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the patient with Hepatitis C and the results were compared with that of healty same aged controls. A significant decrease of SOD activities in patients with Hepatitis C compared with control group were found (p<0,05), On the other hand, a statistically significant increase of CAT activities in patients with hepatitis C compared with control group were found (p<0,0001). Furthermore, a significant increase of GSH-Px activities in patients with hepatitis C compared with control group were found (p<0,05) Key Words: Hepatitis C, Oxidative Stress, Antioxidant Enzyme
