Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to investigate and compare the characteristics of Hibiscus sabdariffa plant included in European Pharmacopeia and Hibiscus sabdariffa samples of Egypt origin and available on the market, and to determine whether they are up to the standards.The samples of H. sabdariffa belong to the calix of the plant. The name of the H. sabdariffa calix was listed under the name of Roselle in European Pharmacopeia.For all samples the analyses were conducted in following order; morphological, microscobic analyses, TLC analyses, foreign matter, loss on drying, total ash, colouring intensity and percent of acids expressed as citric acid analyses.
