Abstract (EN)
Hilmi Ziya Ülken and John Dewey are two important philosophers who have made a name for themselves in the field of educational philosophy and whose views on education are still valid today. With the ideas and methods they adopted in the philosophy of education, they aimed to move education forward in terms of raising dynamic, socially related, egalitarian and well-prepared individuals. While doing this, they adopted universal and innovative methods, and they also criticized the methods that they thought were a problem in the current situation, taking into account the requirements of the educational structure of the culture in which they grew up. This study is a comparison to determine the similarities and differences between the two philosophers' philosophies of education and their philosophies of education. Keywords: education, culture, pragmatism, educational philosophy, progressive education
