Abstract (EN)

The wastes and effluents released to sewage system by industrial plants causes heavy metal pollution in waters which has an adverse effect on aquatic organisms, sediments and the nutrient chain. This study is related to determine the Zn, Cu, Cd and Pb levels of livers, lungs, muscles and gills of the bass fish which lives in the Hirfanlı Dam Lake. It was observed that the highest accumulation of Zn, Pb and Cd took place firstly in liver followed by muscles and gills while Cu was observed to accumulate mainly livers then in gills and muscles. It was observed that the Zn and Cu metal levels in all the tissues were well below the acceptable limits which do not pose any danger for human health. However the accumulation of Pb and Cd in muscles and livers of bass were above the acceptable limits.
