Adverbs in Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar's novels and the methods of their use

In Turkish, the subject of adverb (also known as "belirteç") is important for both language studies and literature studies. Adverbs are words that affect and explain or change an adverb, an adjective or another adverb in a variety of ways such as quality, quantity, location, time, measure, question. They are important language elements in Turkish language studies, especially for grammatical and syntax studies. In addition to language studies, they are also important in literary research in terms of a literary work's analysis in terms of art and aesthetics. In this study, adverbs were examined in accordance with the classification determined with sample sentences. Sample sentences were selected from examples in some of Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar's novels. As a classification, Professor Hacı Ömer Karpuz's study called "Türkçede Zarflar" is based on. Adverbs are basically examined in two main categories: Adverbs according to their structures and adverbs according to their functions. According to their structures, adverbs are examined under two basic headings: singularly adverbs and compound adverbs. Interms of their functions, the adverbs are classified under two basic headings. Single-function adverbs and multi-function adverbs. Single-function adverbs were examined in 22 categories: qualification, time, place, cause, quantity, coordination, togetherness, simile, repeatition, reciprocity, antonymy, instrumentcase, adding, delimitation, comparison, relativity, confirmation, adequacy, competence, demonstration, probability, conditional. Multi-functional adverbs are handled in 3 categories: Time-qualification, place-qualification, time-place adverbs. Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar is one of the important Turkish novel writers, both in terms of his literary personality and the language he uses in his works. The fact that the language he uses is simple and local makes his Works even more important in terms of language studies. Inthisstudy, Hüseyin Rahmi's novels Mürebbiye, Şık, Deli Filozof and Metres were scanned, and sentence examples are selected and categorized in accordance with the classification determined. This study consists of an introduction containing the theoretical part of the research topic, an examination with examples of sentences and evaluation result sections. The introduction part is the section that includes the conceptual framework of the study, the theoretical part of the adverb topic and the life and works of Hüseyin Rahmi. The examination section is the main part of the research. In this section, the adverb classification in Professor Ömer Karpuz's "Türkçe'de Zarflar" study was used. Evaluation and result sections and the results reached in the thesis aregiven in detail. The sentence samples selected from the mentioned works of Hüseyin Rahmi were examined and categorized in accordance with this classification. In this study, 417 adverbs sentence examples in terms of their structures and 1203 adverbs sentence examples in terms of their functions are listed. It was note worthy that qualification and time adverbs were used extensively in the works as a result of the research, including sentence samples in terms of their structure. Adequacy, delimitation and conditional adverbs were found to be the leastused adverbs. The importance of adverbs has once again been demonstrated in the strength and effectiveness of a literary work and the role of adverbs in the art and literary language of Hüseyin Rahmi is clearly demonstrated.
