Abstract (EN)
İbrahim Çallı, as one of the prominent figures in Turkish painting, stands out with his mastery in the use of color and light in his portraits. In Çallı's works, the effects of color and light play a significant role, highlighting the emotional expressions and characteristic style of the artist. This study examines how color and light effects are utilized in Çallı's portraits, the techniques he preferred, and how this usage shaped his unique style. Çallı often prefers vibrant and warm color palettes in his portraits. These colors are used to reflect the emotional depth and vitality of the central figures in the portraits. The artist's choice of colors not only creates a visual impact but also emphasizes the personality traits and moods of the subjects in the portraits. Çallı's color palette draws the viewer into the portrait and establishes a connection between the viewer and the figures depicted. The use of light is another striking element in Çallı's portraits. Çallı employs light as a dramatic tool in his portraits, enhancing the three-dimensional effect of the figures. The interplay of light and shadow accentuates the facial features and expressions of the figures. Çallı typically prefers natural light sources and skillfully uses this light to reveal the details on the figures. This effective use of light strengthens the sense of depth in the portraits and allows the viewer to empathize more deeply with the figures. The examination of the effects of color and light in Çallı's portraits provides insight into the artist's unique style and techniques. By using color and light, Çallı brings his figures to life and invites the viewer into the emotional world of his portraits. This study contributes to understanding the mastery and innovative approach in Çallı's art.
