Abstract (EN)

The distribution networks are used to supply high quality drinking water with a stable quantity and pressure. In this study, a segment of Erbil city drinking water distribution network was modeled by using the documented data and the data collected from the field. A trial-and-error procedure was used to calibrate the model parameters in order to obtain realistic results. The model calibration and validation was carried out by comparing the measured and the simulated, pressure and the chlorine residual concentrations. The measured data was obtained from a number of points on the water distribution network at different times. During the calibration process, the model was evaluated for the average absolute deviation and the correlation of mean errors between the computed and the observed data. The calibration analysis was performed by the EPANET2. The results of the pressure and the chlorine residual concentration demonstrate that the average absolute deviation between the measured and the simulated data is fairly low with a high correlation between the means, signifying that the model is fitted well to the network.
