Formation of interior architectural students' design approach through cinematic interior space analysis: Proposal of "Cinteriors" course model

This study investigates the development of interior architecture students' understanding of atmospheric design in interior spaces through the analysis of cinema film interiors using "CinTeriors" course model. Action research, a qualitative method, was employed, utilizing various data collection tools. This thesis explores the following aspects: (1) previous studies on the relationship between cinema and space, (2) the interaction between cinema and the discipline of interior architecture, (3) the examination of interior space representation in films and its analysis based on predefined criteria, (4) spatial analysis conducted on award-winning films in terms of their production design, (5) the overall structure, content, and process of the developed course model, (6) the research methodology, (7) the findings obtained from the research, and (8) the interpretation of the findings and the resulting conclusion. The study concludes that "CinTeriors" course model positively contributes to the creation of spatial atmospheres by interior architecture students and can be further enhanced based on feedback received from students and experts. Thus, the thesis aims to establish a connection between the disciplines of cinema and interior architecture and contribute to the education of interior architecture.
