Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT Master of Science Thesis ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF URINARY TRACT INFECTION BACTERIA AND THEIR SUSCEPTIBILITY TO SOME ANTIBIOTICS AND GENETIC DIAGNOSIS Abdulrahman ATTALLAH Çankırı Karatekin University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Biology Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet SEZGİN Co-Advisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Wael AL-SAMARRAI In this thesis study, urine samples (100) was obtained from patients aged (1-60) who were admitted to Yermuk Teaching Hospital and Al-Imamein Al-Kadhimaein Hospital in Baghdad between June and October 2021 and were suspected of having urinary tract infection. According to the bacterial culture results, 55% positive results were obtained for urinary tract infection. It was observed that Escherichia coli type was dominant among the bacteria seen according to the isolation and diagnosis studies (54,5%). This rate was the lowest (3,6%) in Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. The susceptibility of the isolated bacteria to 8 different antibiotics was investigated. With the phenotypic determination made on blood agar, it was determined that 14 isolates were suitable on hemolysis with a rate of 46,66%. In order to confirm whether the gene responsible for hemolysis is a virulence gene, a genetic detection study was carried out by polymerase chain reaction technique. 2022, 58 pages Keywords: Antibiotics, Bacteria, Sensitivity, PZR, Urinary Tract
