Abstract (EN)
Jewelry, as a phenomenon that expresses social and individual situations of people such as religion, protection, admiration and status symbol, is an element that has had an impact on human life since ancient times. Human beings used bone fragments, seashells, precious stones and metals they found in nature in their jewelry. With the discovery and processing of metal, significant developments have been made in the forms and techniques of jewelry. Artists of different branches of art have brought innovations in the understanding of jewelry with their jewelry designs and production. Helen Banes is a fiber artist and jewelery designer. By using weft-faced weaving and beads together, he developed a new technique for jewelry design. The art of needle weaving jewelry was explained in detail in the book "Beads and Threads: A New Technique for Fiber Jewelery" by Helen Banes and Diana Firtzgerald in 1993. The design of the jewelery is drawn on checkered paper and pinned onto a semi-soft board with a pin, and the pins are pinned across the design, facing each other. A warp connection, which is the first stage of weaving called warp, is created between the needles, and the pattern threads are passed through the threads from one bottom and one top on the warp surface, creating a weft-faced weave. Needle weaving is a technique that anyone who is interested can easily do with easily available materials. In this study, examples of needle-woven jewelry practitioners from around the world and Turkey are given, the samples made by these practitioners are analyzed, and the importance of design and imagination is emphasized. In the study, a six-piece needle weaving collection was created based on the theme (Blue), and innovative approaches to this technique were sought in the collection. Keywords: Needle weaving, innovative approaches, textile jewelry, woven jewelry.
