Abstract (EN)

Thefeeling of helping the needy people, which emerged with the formation of societies, led to the emergence of the concept of Social Work over time. In this research, the changeprocess of Social Work, which has turnedinto a professional service over time, in the World and in Turkey has been evaluated in terms of certain turning points. The modernization proces sexperienced during and after the Industrial Revolution in the World accelerated under the name of Westernization in the Tanzimat Period in the Ottoman Empire. During thereign of Sultan Abdulhamid II, whichstarted in 1876, Westernization work was experienced in the form of bringing many new institution stoour country by fusing our tradition alvalues with modern institutions in the West. Sultan II. Theseinstitutions, whichwereestablished in theperiod of Abdulhamid, are the work sthataret hebasis of manyin stitution sestablished in the social fieldduring the structuring process of the New TurkishState, which wase stablishe dafter the First World Warand the War of Independence. Inthisre search, somesections of the developments in the world in thehistoricalprocess in thefield of Social Work and the developments in the Ottoman periodand the transition processtothe Republic of Turkey are expressed.
