Two of the research laboratories in Dokuz Eylül University Environmental Engineering Department were selected and occupational health and safety assessment studies were carried out within the scope of this thesis study. Mathematical models were used in occupational health and safety assessment studies. The studies were first started by utilizing the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Before starting modeling with AHP, on-site observations were made in the studied laboratories, besides, occupational accident risks and safety precautions taken or not taken were determined in the studied laboratories. Survey questions were prepared in the light of the identified risks and precautions, and these questions were asked to full-time employees and students working in the studied laboratories. The answers received from the surveys and the matrices created in the AHP were integrated into each other and some coefficients were calculated for both occupational accidents and safety precautions. The calculated accident coefficients and safety coefficients were correlated and they were found to be related to each other with a high rate of 94 percentage. Thus, it could be expressed numerically via using AHP that it is necessary to increase safety precautions in order to reduce occupational accidents. The risks determined in the AHP were also examined using the Fine-Kinney Method (FKM), and the necessary safety precautions taken for each laboratory were specifically determined for the studied laboratories within the scope of this thesis. A cost analysis had also been made for these safety precautions. The total cost of safety precautions to be taken in the studied laboratories to prevent occupational accidents was calculated as ten thousand Euro in the light of the used mathematical models.
