Abstract (EN)

In this study, beneficiation of Aydın and Soma fine lignites with water-only cyclones (WOC) and spirals were investigated. In the studies, a three-level Box-Behnken design (BBD) of experiments combined with response surface methodology (RSM) used to investigate the effects of the design and operating parameters of water-only cyclone and spiral. The actual data collected from the tests were used to construct the empirical models representing clean coal ash and yield as process responses to the independent variables. The significance test of model fit for clean coal ash and yield were performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Experimental and model results showed that, ash content of the clean coal of WOC was relatively lower, when compared with spiral. However, yield of the clean coal of spiral was higher. A clean coal product containing in between 21.21 – 32.73 percent ash, with a yield of in between 56.27-82.68 percent was produced by the application of WOC and spiral with Aydın coal samples. In the Soma coal samples, the ash content of the clean coal obtained was between 18.89 and 32.73 percent, and the clean coal yield was between 39.68 and 73 percent. When the combination of water-only cyclone and spiral are used, the efficiency of the clean coal obtained is higher than when the devices are used separately.
