Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the original electroactive monomers containing carbazole were synthesized and coated onto ITO/glass surface via electrochemical process. Structural characterizations of all synthesized compounds were identified by using FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The optical and electrochemical HOMO-LUMO band gap values were calculated by using UV-Vis absorbtion and cyclic voltametry (CV) measurements, respectively. In addition, electron-energy transfer mechanisms of synthesized donor-acceptor structures were determined by utilizing UV-fluorescence, UV-Vis and cyclic voltammetry measurements. Finally, electrochromic behaviours of donor-acceptor polymers coated on to ITO/glass surface via electrochemical process were determined by the spectro-electrchemical measurements, and due to containing donor and acceptor moiety in their stuructures, the polymer film having wide color scale with the donor and acceptor moiety act independently upon when positive and negative potential were applied. As the results of kinetic study, oxidation and reduction response times and stabilities of the polymer films were determined as quite good.Key Words: Carbazole, donor-acceptor polymers, electrochromic materials, alkyl side chain length effect.
