In 19th century, formation process of political Islam in Turkey emerged in the process of `the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire.It also has been brought up by some sections in the early years of the Republic. To prevent from these discussions many revolutions took place in the time of Atatürk. In the process of long-lasting Republican People's Party (CHP) government, there were not big changes in policies related to secularism. However, this situation changed with the establishment of Democrat Party (DP) in 1946, and with their unforeseen success in same year?s the elections. In December 24, 1946, some CHP members of the parliament have proposed a restart of teaching religion. As we have seen various evolutions of the state in religious matters are parallel to brought multi-party life for fear of losing power.With the elections held on May 14, 1950 in Turkey, 27 years of CHP power ended and the DP era has begun.It would be missing to connect the start of the multi-party system and Democrat Party?s election as the one ruler in Turkey to internal factors. After the Second World War, two great powers have emerged in the world scale. One of them is the United States, and the other one is Soviet Union. After the war, between Turkey and US, close relations has started due to the Sowiet Unions reuqests which has fallen contrary with Turkeys ideollgie and Amerika?s interests. The main point that determinates U.S. relations with Turkey is the strategic importance that Turkey has because of its geopolitical position. However, Turkey's role within the Western alliance was not limited with making multi-party democracy live, just like others. First of all, Turkey is a neighbor of the Soviet Union. As in many countries of the world in Turkey, the Soviet Union was thought to be the source of danger communist regime. Against this danger, thoughts structure in Turkey started to become more religious qualified. In this case in Turkey has created an environment appropriate to the rise of political Islam.As we see since 1946, rapid changes that occur in Turkey are an integral whole.
