Comparison of mental rotation, reaction time and dynamic stability tests achievement levels on advanced badminton players

The aim of this study to compare the mental rotation, the time of reaction and dynamic balance parameters of advanced badminton players. The subjects of the study consists of total 65 (37 men, 28 women) advenced badminton players who are associated to the Bursa Osmangazi Sports Club, Bursa Yıldırım Belediyesi Sports Club and Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Sports Club. In the study, the computer-based mental rotation test was applied through using image files of "Mental Rotation Stimulus Library"; the time of reaction was measured through the MP36 (Biopac System, USA) device and the dynamic balance was measured through PK200 WL Dynamic Balance Measurement System. SPSS 24.0 packaged software was used for statistical analysis. The Mann-Whitney U test was applied to compare continuous variables and Pearson Correlation Analysis was applied to determine the level of relationships among the parameters. p <0.05 were used for the statistical confidence interval. Any remarkable statistical differences between values of mental rotation, the time of reaction, dynamic balance and the gender of the advanced badminton players and their BMI were not determined (p>0.05). There is a significant relationship between the time of reaction and the values of dynamic balance and mental rotation (p>0.05). However there is not a significant relationship between the values of mental rotation and dynamic balance (p>0.05). There is a significant relationship between the age and the values of the time of reaction and dynamic balance (p>0.05). In conclusion, our study have shown there is a significant relationship between the time of reaction and the values of dynamic balance and mental rotation, the age and the values of the time of reaction and dynamic balance of the advanced badminton players.
